Danton’s Restaurant to Relocate and Reopen as Eugene’s Gulf Coast Cuisine

HOUSTON – (Realty News Report) – Restaurateur Kyle Teas is creating a new concept, Eugene’s Gulf Coast Cuisine, which will be located in the storied Mockingbird Bistro spot at 1985 Welch Street, in Houston’s Inner Loop.

The new restaurant is an evolution from Teas’ former Danton’s Gulf Coast Kitchen, which was located in the 4600 block of Montrose Boulevard in Chelsea Market, next to the Southwest Freeway. The Chelsea Market center will reportedly be torn down to make room for multifamily construction.

Eugene’s Gulf Coast Cuisine will be located in the Mockingbird Bistro spot that was operated by chef John Sheely for 15 years before closing in 2016.

The 4,600-SF Eugene’s will include some vintage furnishings from the fabled Sonny Look’s Sirloin Inn. “Eugene’s will also feature what promises to be Houston’s liveliest bar experience, The Oyster Bar,” a press release said.

Eugene’s is expected to open in late summer or early fall.
