BASTROP, Texas – (Realty News Report) – Del Webb, the company behind some of the nation’s largest and most longstanding senior-focused communities, will bring more than 500 homes for age 55 and up in a new community in Bastrop. The developer broke ground in July on Del Webb Lost Pines, its first active adult community in the Austin area since entering Texas more than 30 years ago.
The project, which is being developed on 323 acres within The Colony master-planned community, will include over 260 homes in the first phase. Located off Highway 71 about 30 miles southeast of Austin, the community will deliver initial homes in the first quarter of 2026. Prices have not yet been established.
A division of Atlanta-based PulteGroup since 2001, Del Webb developed Sun City Texas in Georgetown, north of Austin, in 1995. Development is still active in the Georgetown community, which is planned for more than 10,000 homes.
Del Webb Lost Pines will capitalize on Texas as a popular retirement destination and strong demand from baby boomers, offering modern, resort-style amenities and activities where neighbors can stay active and connect. Named for the Lost Pines Forest near Bastrop, the community will create places where residents can focus on wellness, health, and friendship. The community near the Colorado River takes its name from the Lost Pines Forest, a stand of pine trees near Bastrop.
“Given the growth of Austin and the rapidly expanding 55+ demographic, we’re excited to break ground on this new community and showcase the Del Webb lifestyle to the great town of Bastrop,” said Pablo Rivas, Division President of PulteGroup Central Texas. “It’s been decades since a new Del Webb community has opened in the Austin area, and Del Webb Lost Pines will fill the demand with its beautiful, consumer-inspired home designs and upscale amenities.”
Bastrop, with a population of nearly 13,000, is home to several Elon Musk ventures including The Boring Company and X Corp.
Del Webb Lost Pines will offer three home series with features for hosting family and entertaining. One-story homes are designed with open floorplans, spacious kitchens, and energy-efficient construction.
An amenity center is planned to open in the third quarter of 2026. Serving as a social hub, the center will have a fitness center, aerobics classes, multi-purpose hobby rooms, a golf simulator, a resort-style pool, bocce and pickleball courts, and miles of walking trails. A full-time Lifestyle Director will be on staff.
Del Webb develops 55 and up communities in the Austin, Houston, Dallas, and San Antonio areas. Just southwest of Houston, the company is preparing to open Del Webb Sugar Land at Ryehill in 2026.
