HOUSTON – (Realty News Report) – The Houston area added 94,600 new jobs in the 12-month period ending in June, one of the strongest job growth reports in years. More than 3.1 million people are now employed in the Houston area, according to the Texas Workforce Commission.
The June job total represents a “significant jump” from the 81,200 jobs created in the 12-month period ending in May, reports economist Patrick Jankowski of the Greater Houston Partnership.
“Three sectors account for the bulk of the region’s net gains: administrative and support and waste management and remediation services; construction and retail,” the Partnership reported.
Construction hiring is up as Houston continues to rebuild from Hurricane Harvey.
Another upbeat economic indicator was recently reported: June was also the best month ever for single-family home sales in Houston.
