DALLAS – (Realty News Report) – Colorado-based Century Communities announced the acquisition of HistoryMaker Homes, a long-standing Texas home builder based in Grapevine.
The acquisition of the assets of HMH Lifestyles, L.P., doing business as HistoryMaker Homes, triples Century Communities community count in the Dallas-Fort Worth market and meaningfully expands its pipeline of lots.
HistoryMaker, which was founded in 1949 by O.N. Mitchell Sr. and O.N. Mitchell Jr., builds exclusively in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. Last year, Austin-based Brohn Homes took over the Houston home building operations of the company with the acquisition HistoryMaker’s Houston division.
“HistoryMaker Homes gives us the scale, land position, and local talent to accelerate our growth in Dallas-Fort Worth, one of the largest housing markets in the country,” said Rob Francescon, Chief Executive Officer of Century Communities.
A Top 10 Builder Gets Bigger
Century Communities ranked No. 10 on the Builder 100 list with 10,792 closings in 2025. HistoryMaker Homes ranked No. 77 on the list with 728 sales.
“HistoryMaker has earned the trust of Texas homebuyers for more than 75 years, and its product and lot pipeline fit squarely with our strategy of building depth in our existing markets. We’re proud to welcome the HistoryMaker team to the Century family, and we thank Nelson Mitchell for entrusting us with the next chapter of a company his family has built over five generations,” said Jim Francescon, Executive Vice President of Century Communities.
With the deal, HistoryMaker becomes part of a publicly traded company. Shares of Century Communities trade on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol CCS.
Five Generations of Home Building
“For five generations, my family has been proud to build quality new homes—supported by a best-in-class team—that Texas families could count on,” said Nelson Mitchell, Chief Executive Officer of HistoryMaker Homes. “As we looked to the future, it was important to find a partner that shares our commitment to quality, integrity and the customer experience, and that would give our people room to grow. Century Communities is that partner. I’m confident our team, our homeowners, and our trade partners are in great hands, and I look forward to seeing the HistoryMaker legacy continue as part of Century.”
Century Communities’ Dallas-Fort Worth operations will be based in Grapevine, with HistoryMaker division leadership and employees joining Century Communities.
The Texas Tally
Texas is a big part of Century Communities’ business. The company reported $3.8 billion in total revenues over the last 12 months through June, including $500 million in Texas. The Lone Star State made up 19% of the 10,035 home sale deliveries during the period.
Century Communities will continue to work with Jabez Development, HistoryMaker’s sister land development company. Jabez will complete land development on select communities for Century, and the companies expect to pursue additional land opportunities together in Dallas-Fort Worth.
Vestra Advisors advised HistoryMaker Homes on the transaction.
In Houston, Century Communities builds homes across the Houston metro including the recently opened Mirabella community in Brookshire. The company is led by Tanya Rizzo in the Houston market.
Boilerplate: Based in Greenwood Village, Colo., Century Communities builds homes in 16 states and over 45 markets across the U.S. Homes sold for an average price of $378,000 in 2025. The company builds under the Century Communities and Century Complete brands.
