Multifamily Groundbreaking at Bridgeland

HOUSTON – (Realty News Report) The  Howard Hughes Corp. broke ground on a 358-unit multifamily community called Starling at Bridgeland, featuring for-lease apartments in Bridgeland in the northwest Houston area.

Bridgeland, 11,400-acre master planned community located in Cypress near the Grand Parkway, is ranked as No. 9 in the nation in new home sales.

The apartment project will be located in Bridgeland Central, the 900-acre future urban core of the community. The multifamily project is the second multifamily residence constructed by The Howard Hughes Corporation in Bridgeland, following the Lakeside Row The Residences.

The overall Houston multifamily market slipped during the pandemic. Class B and C projects performed better than newer Class A apartments. The Inner Loop of Houston is the softest Class A market with declining rents. Suburban markets outperformed downtown multifamily.

VCC is the construction manager on the Starling at Bridgeland. The multifamily project is expected to be completed by summer 2022. The 350,000-SF  project will sit on a 15.2-acre site.

“This project represents our goal to offer a quality lifestyle with access to open green space as well as urban features such as retail businesses and restaurants,” said Heath Melton, Executive Vice President of Master Planned Communities, Residential for The Howard Hughes Corp.

Short-term leases will be made available to accommodate homebuyers who are waiting for their new houses to be completed in Bridgeland.
