Starwood Starts 2000 Home Community

HOUSTON – (Realty News Report) – Starwood Land, a nationwide developer of residential master planned communities, has started development of Starbridge, a 933-acre community in Fort Bend County that will include more than 2,000 homes.

Starbridge development activities will be handled by Land Tejas of Houston, which is Starwood Land’s newly acquired partner

The first phase of Starbridge is projected to be available in early 2023, according to John Brian, East Region President of Starwood Land.  He said participating homebuilders and price points for homes have not been determined. The community is located on Highway 59 near Rosenberg in southwest Fort Bend County. The project is zoned for schools within the Lamar Consolidated Independent School District.

“Fort Bend County continues to be a very popular destination for homeowners,” Brian said. “Starbridge will include many of Houston’s top homebuilders, a variety of family-oriented amenities and a well-planned community design. Land Tejas has developed some of Houston’s finest communities, and Starbridge will continue that legacy.”

Starwood Land, which has developed more than 90 communities in 10 states, is the owner of Starbridge and will provide financing for the development of the community. Land Tejas, one of Houston’s premier residential developers founded in 1997, will be the fee development manager. Land Tejas has experience in Fort Bend County having previously developed Canyon Gate at the Brazos, a 500-acre community.

Starwood Land is a Florida-based residential real estate investment firm focused on land acquisition, development and financing nationwide. Partnering with Starwood Capital Group, one of the world’s largest real estate investment firms, Starwood Land has deployed more than $1 billion in residential investments and continues to develop land positions throughout the United States.

Starwood Capital Group is led by billionaire Barry S. Sternlicht.

In late December of 2021, Starwood Capital Group said that a Starwood affiliate had acquired a majority interest in the assets owned by Land Tejas, a Houston-based residential development company with a more than 20-year history of creating master planned communities.  Founded in 1997, Land Tejas has become renowned for its Crystal Lagoon pools spanning multiple acres with white sand beaches.

Starwood Land acquired a 10-project, 16,000-lot portfolio for $425 million from Land Tejas. Since its inception in July 2007, Starwood Land has acquired more than 40,000 lots in over 90 communities in 10 states and has developed and sold more than $1.4 billion of residential land and lots.

Starbridge development activities will be handled by Land Tejas of Houston.
