FORT WORTH – (Realty News Report) – Taylor Sheridan, creator of the “Yellowstone” and “Landman” TV series and Texas-based real estate developer Ross Perot Jr. have joined forces to create the largest TV/film studio in the Lone Star State.
The studio prepares Fort Worth – aka Cowtown – to leave a big boot print on global filmmaking.
The new studio campus was created by Taylor Sheridan’s SGS Studios, Paramount Studios, and Texas developer Hillwood, a Perot Company and other partners.
In collaboration with Paramount Television, SGS Studios has launched a two-building, 450,000-SF production campus at the 27,000-acre AllianceTexas development in north Fort Worth. SGS Studios, founded by writer, producer, director, and actor Taylor Sheridan, is a partnership of SGS Holdings and Hillwood.
Hillwood’s massive AllianceTexas mixed-use development is known as a major logistics hub. It is home to hundreds of companies and Perot Field Fort Worth Alliance Airport.
“This partnership reflects the strength of AllianceTexas and the leadership of Fort Worth in embracing new industries and opportunity,” said Ross Perot, Jr., Chairman of Hillwood. “We are proud to help bring major film and television production to North Texas through this collaboration with SGS Studios, and we are grateful to Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, Sen. Joan Huffman and state Rep. Todd Hunter for their leadership in advancing the state’s film incentive legislation that will further diversify our economy and create long-term growth for our region and state.”
The new campus, which offers sound stages, mill space, wardrobe, and green screen capabilities, allows for four simultaneous large-scale productions and has already created thousands of jobs. Filming for season two of Landman began in March.
“SGS Studios isn’t just about sound stages or incentives — it’s about reclaiming the independence and grit that built this industry in the first place,” said Taylor Sheridan. “Texas offers something rare: the space to dream big, the freedom to build fast, and a community that still believes storytelling matters.”
Paramount and 101 Studios, which also produced Sheridan’s Yellowstone television series, led the filming. Landman created more than 3,800 jobs, including crew, cast and extras.
Starring Billy Bob Thornton, Landman is filmed in and around Fort Worth and the city plays a prominent role in the story line, along with the oil patch in Midland 300 miles away. Scenes show places such as the Petroleum Club, Texas Christian University, and even Perot Field Fort Worth Alliance Airport.
Following the opening of the SGS1 and SGS2 production studios, the partnership will begin developing the first master-planned studio campus within AllianceTexas and more are planned.
“We are at a pivotal moment where Texas can become a global force in the film industry, and North Texas offers the location and resources to play a central role in this development,” said Mike Berry, President of Hillwood. “We have the infrastructure in place to grow jobs exponentially and produce thousands of future film industry workers, and with our partners, we have already started providing training for the specialty skills this workforce sector requires.”
Hillwood is a commercial and residential real estate developer, investor, and advisor of properties throughout North America and Europe. Hillwood Properties has developed and acquired 32 million SF of industrial, 3.6 million SF of retail and office, and over 4,000 multifamily units.
