Madison Marquette Opens The Travis Apartment Tower in Houston

HOUSTON – (Realty News Report) – The Madison Marquette development firm has opened The Travis, a new 30-story residential tower in Midtown Houston.

The tower’s 330 apartments units sit atop 14,000 SF of retail space, including a restaurant scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2021.

Located adjacent to MetroRail, The Travis is situated on a 1.16-acre block bounded by Main, Travis, Stuart and Francis streets. The site is one block south of Elgin Street.

The 375,775-SF building features one, two and three bedroom apartments and two story penthouses.

“We are delighted to introduce The Travis to the Midtown neighborhood of Houston,” said Madison Marquette Principal Rick Kirk. “Our new residences offer Houstonians a best-in-class combination of amenities and design excellence while offering convenient access to local public transit.”

The Travis is located between two of the city’s main employment centers – downtown and the Texas Medical Center, providing residents a five-minute rail trip north to downtown and a 10-minute trip south to the medical center. The Travis has a seven-story parking garage.

The block where The Travis was built was acquired in 2015 from the City of Houston, which had vacated the property several years before. The city’s old building there, now demolished, had been used by the city’s permit department and a police firing range was located there also.

The Travis, designed by CallisonRTKL, has LEED gold certification for sustainability. Interior features of The Travis apartments include floor-to-ceiling windows, hardwood floors, 10-12 foot ceilings, and quartz and granite fixtures throughout.

AECOM Hunt was the general contractor for The Travis, which was financed by Goldman Sachs.

Other amenities include an aqua lounge with conference room, heated salt water pool, private cabanas with Bluetooth, fire pits, a grand lawn and 24-hour fitness center.

The Travis development was started prior to the 2018 merger of Houston-based PMRG and Washington DC-based Madison Marquette. As The Travis apartment tower opens, the Houston multifamily market has an 88.8 percent occupancy  rate, according to ApartmentData.com .

Madison Marquette is a private full-service real estate provider, investment manager, developer and operator headquartered in Washington, D.C. The company delivers integrated investment, development, leasing and management services to a diverse portfolio of 330 assets in 20 states and manages an investment portfolio valued at over $6 billion.
