Major Redo at Midway’s Moran Hotel

HOUSTON – (Realty News Report) – Midway is updating The Moran CityCentre, the 244-room hotel, in its CityCentre mixed-use development in West Houston.

The hotel has not been significantly updated since its opening in 2009. The current project’s goal is to “blend the essence of Texas with sophisticated elements, ensuring a memorable stay for guests,” Midway’s press release said.

Already completed are the guest room improvements to furnishings, lighting fixtures and in-room technology. This summer, the multi-million dollar renovation project moves on to the hotel’s common areas, entrance and lobby, 10,000 square feet of meeting space, fitness center and restaurant venue. The hotel’s connection to CityCentre’s central plaza will also be updated to enhance the pedestrian experience.

The hotel remains open throughout the project.

“The renovation seeks to create a destination that distinguishes itself not only in Houston but as a model of hospitality and design,” said Robert Williamson, Midway’s senior vice president of investment.

Elevated amenities include chic bar carts highlighting Texas-based liquors such as Tito’s Vodka and Garrison Brothers Texas Whiskey along with various snack options, coffee service utilizing Illy products, custom bath products and robes, and handheld steamers.

HEI Hotels & Resorts, based in Norwalk, Conn, has managed the property since 2019, when the hotel was rebranded The Moran City Centre. Its name honors Midway’s founder, Jim Moran.

Midway considers the hotel a signature property within its flagship CityCentre mixed-use development, located on 47 acres at Beltway 8 near Interstate 10.

CityCentre was named ULI Development of the Decade by the Urban Land Institute.

Elsewhere in the development, renovations are under way at the eight-screen movie palace, Star Cinema Grill. Meanwhile, Midway recently broke ground on CityCentre Six, a 19-story, 320,000-SF office tower that will have the Dow chemical company as its anchor tenant.

Midway also developed The George, a 162-room upscale hotel in Century Square, Midway’s mixed-use development near the Texas A&M University campus in College Station. Calvary Court, a 141-room hotel was also built in the Century Square.
