HOUSTON – (Realty News Report) – Sprouts Farmers Market, the Phoenix-based grocer that has been on a national expansion spree, plans to open a store in Spring north of Houston in 2027.
Work to build out a 23,024-SF store at 5225 Riley Fuzzel Road in east Spring is expected to begin in January, according to a filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. Completion is targeted for October 2027.
The natural and organic foods grocer is planned as a tenant at Grand Imperial Marketplace, a development of Houston-based Fidelis at the Grand Parkway and Imperial Promenade Drive in Spring, according to Fidelis property materials. Other tenants planned at the center include Marshalls, Five Below, and Planet Fitness.
The new Sprouts would serve neighborhoods including Woodson’s Reserve, The Highlands, and Artavia. A number of large scale communities have been developed east of Interstate 45 along the Grand Parkway since Exxon Mobil opened its massive Springwoods Village campus eight miles away in 2014.
Sprouts, which focuses on healthy products with organic produce at the center of the layout, plans to open more than 40 stores in 2026. The company recently opened its 500th store when it took over a former Randalls space in Panther Creek Village Center in The Woodlands. Other new area stores have opened at a former H-E-B in Kingwood and a former Party City in Webster.
Sprouts is building stores in second generation space and from the ground up, such as the location in Waterview Town Center in Richmond.
Sprouts is planning a location in part of a former Kroger store in Smithco’s Echo Lane Shopping Center in Memorial. The grocer has also signed on to anchor Sienna Crossroads, a new development at Highway 6 and Vicksburg Boulevard in Missouri City, according to marketing material from Palo Duro Commercial Partners.
Founded in 2002, Sprouts Farmers Market operates more than 500 stores in 25 states. Sprouts has grown to 70 stores in Texas, including 10 in the Houston area. New Texas stores are opening soon in Waxahachie and Bedford.
