HOUSTON – (Realty News Report) – Holey Moley, an indoor mini-golf outlet with a restaurant menu and alcoholic beverages, is opening a 27-hole facility in Houston.
The Holey Moley brand, part of the Funlab organization of Australia, is rolling out Holey Moley in the United States.
Funlab’s first of four Holey Moley locations opened in Denver in mid-September, with three more locations opening soon in Houston, Austin, and San Francisco.
JLL’s Project and Development Services group provided design, architecture and multi-site project management services for Funlab’s first Holey Moley locations in the U.S.
The Genre: Indoor Mini-Golf with Cocktails
The multi-faceted, indoor mini-golf genre has been expanding as shopping center owners have embraced “experiential retail” to invigorate malls in the e-commerce era.
In downtown Houston, Puttshack has registered strong results with its mini-golf/bar/restaurant outlet in Brookfield Properties’ Houston Center. Puttshack leased 26,000 SF in Highlight, formerly known as The Shops at Houston Center. At the time, Puttshack described its concept thusly: “Puttshack will attract Houstonians looking for a great night out with four custom-made, tech-driven, highly competitive mini golf courses, powered by the brand’s leading patented Trackaball technology that keeps score for you as you play. The game play is matched by an innovative, globally inspired dining menu and full cocktail bar, as well as world-class hospitality and a high-energy, upscale nightclub vibe.”
Funlabs’ Holey Moley offers this description: it “takes the familiar and beloved mini golf concept and transforms it. The spaces are an immersive world of fun with delicious bites, specialty cocktails and real-life connections. The Denver location includes three nine-hole courses that feature holes inspired by popular themes from pop culture infused with nostalgia and childhood memories.”
The Houston Holey Money will include 27 holes across three courses, JLL said. The location has not been announced. But unconfirmed online information indicates Holey Moley may be located near the corner of Weslayan and Richmond Avenue where the Regal Edwards Greenway Grand Palace
“JLL’s PDS group helped bring Funlab’s vision to life for their first-ever U.S. locations,” said Ken Demske, National Director, Multi-Site, Project and Development Services, JLL. “We brought together leaders spanning across multiple areas of expertise under one team that provides an end-to-end approach, bringing the best solutions to our client.”
With a variety of options for dining, beverages, functions and events Holey Moley offers options for family outings during the day to corporate happy hours and more.
“There’s something universal about having a good time in a setting designed expressly for that and nothing else,” said Michael Schreiber, CEO, Funlab. “What makes these locations unique is the way we take familiar, cherished concepts from the world around us and transform them into something surprising.”
