Koontz Corp. is developing a 328-unit multifamily community near USAA in San Antonio.

SAN ANTONIO — (Realty News Report) – Koontz Corporation, a San Antonio-based firm led by Bart Koontz, has broken ground on a Palmetto Pointe, a 328-unit apartment community located in the city’s northwest submarket.

The project is located between USAA and the South Texas Medical Center – the two largest private employers in San Antonio.

“We are fortunate to have purchased a highly desirable infill location just outside of the USAA headquarters campus on Fredericksburg Road,” said Koontz Corporation President and CEO Bart Koontz.

Koontz acquired the 15.2-acre tract for the community in April 2018 and broke ground on the project in mid-November.

Palmetto Pointe will feature 328 one- and two-bedroom garden apartment homes comprising a total of 300,000 SF. The one-bedroom residences will range from 653 to 936 SF, and the two-bedroom units will range from 1,070 to 1,451 SF. All apartments will feature Class A finishes including: quartz countertops, stainless steel appliances, balconies, and ample closet and storage space. Palmetto residents will enjoy exceptional amenities, including a workout facility; pool; cabana featuring grills, flat-screen television, and sinks to allow food preparation at poolside; garages; and carports.

Koontz Construction, the general contractor, is currently doing site work and expects to complete the entire 13-building complex in approximately 24 months. The architect for Palmetto Pointe is Wallace Garcia Wilson Architects, and the landscape architect is Kudela & Weinheimer, both of Houston.

“Palmetto Pointe is in an unparalleled infill location in the most dynamic area of San Antonio,” said Koontz. “It is one of the most highly desirable places to live and work in the city, and will have great appeal to USAA employees, medical center employees, and millennials and young professionals in a wide range of fields.”

Koontz Corporation has developed numerous landmark projects in the San Antonio area, including Methodist Center, KCI Corporate Headquarters, McCombs Plaza, San Miguel, The Palomino, Savannah Oaks and The Broadway.
