Sierra Vista Groundbreaking

IOWA COLONY, Texas – (Realty News Report) – Land Tejas, a Houston developer, has broken ground on the Sierra Vista community near Highway 288 south of Houston.

The 850-acre development is a sister community to neighboring Sterling Lakes, also by Land Tejas. Pricing starts at the low $200,000s with homes by builders Anglia Homes, CastleRock Communities, D.R. Horton and Westin Homes.

“We are in the very early stages of development, and already we have our first sale,” said Tim Johnson of Land Tejas. “This is going to be a top-selling community.”

Located in northern Brazoria County, Iowa Colony was founded in 1908 by the Immigration Land Company of Des Moines, Iowa, according to city’s website. The city’s slogan is “Where We Make it Happen.” In 2010, the population of Iowa Colony was 1,170.

Sierra Vista is the eighteenth community for Land Tejas, which has operating in the Houston area for more than 20 years. Within the last year, the developer has opened four communities — Etteridge in Humble, Lago Mar in Texas City, Wedgewood Forest in Conroe and Balmoral in Humble. The firm is preparing to open Vanbrooke, a new community near Fulshear in the western suburbs.

In addition, Land Tejas is responsible for the development of top-selling Canyon Lakes West including Miramesa at Canyon Lakes West. Canyon Lakes West is one of the 50 top-selling master-planned communities in the nation, according to Robert Charles Lesser & Co.
