Plant Brings 350 Jobs to Houston

HOUSTON – (Realty News Report) – Resilient Structures, a North American maker of high-performance composite utility poles, announced the grand opening of its Houston manufacturing facility in Humble.

In another win for Houston manufacturing, the plant at 19409 Kenswick Drive in Humble is expected to create 200 jobs, plus another 150 jobs after two additional production lines come online. The facility supports utilities as they strengthen infrastructure to withstand severe weather to improve electric reliability to customers across the Gulf Coast.

At the Tuesday grand opening and production launch, Resilient Structures CEO John Higgins joined community representatives including CenterPoint Energy Chief Operating Officer Jesus Soto, Partnership Lake Houston President and CEO Ray Hernandez, and Texas State Representative Charles Cunningham.

“This facility represents what’s possible when utilities, industry, and communities work together to get ahead of a challenge,” said CEO Higgins. “The demand for a stronger, more reliable grid is only increasing, and this facility gives our utility customers the ability to deploy resilient infrastructure faster, at scale, and closer to where it’s needed most.”

Higgins announced two additional production lines that will double capacity at the site. The facility supports a broader network of regional suppliers and partners.

Installing stronger, wind-resistant utility poles is a key component of CenterPoint’s Greater Houston Resiliency Initiative, which launched in July 2024 after Hurricane Beryl knocked out power to millions of Houstonians. The company installed more than 10,000 storm resilient poles in the first quarter.

“I welcome this new business into the Lake Houston community and know the partnership with CenterPoint will help ensure a reliable grid for the future,” said Rep. Cunningham. “The economic growth created by more than 200 new jobs is significant and commendable. Resilient Structures will be a valuable and key partner in our area.”

The Houston facility will serve as a hub for Resilient Structures’ area operations supporting long-term grid modernization efforts. Based in Canada, the company operates three strategic manufacturing facilities in St. George, Utah; Tilbury, Ontario; and Humble, Texas.

Resilient Structures is backed by Energy Impact Partners, a global investment firm focused on the energy sector and Werklund Growth Fund, an investment firm backed by the Werklund family.
