HOUSTON – (Realty News Report) – QuikTrip, a fast-growing convenience store chain with a wide selection of snacks and drinks, will open its first Inner Loop location as part of its expansion in the Houston market.
The new store and gas station at 9696 Main Street represents the chain’s 13th location in Greater Houston since first entering the market nearly five years ago, according to RNR Research. The new Main Street store, just blocks away from FIFA World Cup Soccer at Houston Stadium, follows recent openings in Willis and Dickinson.
While relatively small in Houston, Tulsa, Okla.-based QuikTrip is one of the nation’s largest convenience store chains with more than 1,200 stores across 22 states. Founded in 1958, the privately owned company has annual revenue of $11 billion and ranks in the nation’s top 10 by store count.
QuikTrip gets high marks for customer satisfaction, according to the Newsweek’s latest ranking of America’s Best Retailers. Other convenience store chains on the list include Buc-ee’s, Sheetz, Wawa, and GetGo.
The opening gives QuikTrip a leg up on its competition in terms of proximity to Houston’s main employment centers such as the Texas Medical Center and downtown. By comparison, the popular Buc-ee’s convenience store chain has 20 Houston area locations, but none are inside Loop 610.

The new Houston store, totaling nearly 7,400-SF, is near the corner of South Main Street and Buffalo Speedway close to Reliant Park. It offers an onsite QT Kitchen with a menu that includes pizza by the slice, sub sandwiches, wraps, and soft pretzels. Drink options include more than 30 flavors of soda and tea, frozen drinks, smoothies, coffee, and more.
QuikTrip has established a presence across Texas since opening in the Dallas/Fort Worth area in 1999. The company, which expanded to Austin and San Antonio in 2018, plans further growth in Houston.
Additional Houston area stores are in the works at 733 McCarty Street, 3903 Pasadena Blvd. in Pasadena, 1201 Dixie Farm Road, 541 FM 1459 in Brookshire, 27820 Kingsland Blvd. in Katy, and 17907 FM Rd 2920 in Tomball, according to company filings with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.
