HOUSTON – FedEx Ground is developing an 800,000 SF distribution hub off of the Grand Parkway in the Cypress area.
It will be the largest FedEx Ground facility in Texas, with 400 employees, upon completion in August 2017, FedEx Ground says.
The 484-acre site was selected, FedEx Ground says, because of good access to major highways and work force and its proximity to its customers distribution networks. The site is north of FM 529.
“The new facility, along with a new FedEx Ground building under construction in Sugar Land that is slated to open this summer, will enable us to continue to meet and exceed customer demands in the Houston area,” FedEx said in a statement.
“The new facility is part of a nationwide network expansion to boost daily package volume capacity and further enhance the speed and service capabilities of the FedEx Ground network. Since 2005, the company has opened 11 new hubs featuring advanced material-handling systems and expanded or relocated more than 500 local facilities,” the company said.
“The network enhancements have resulted in accelerating ground service delivery by one day or more in more than two-thirds of the United States,” FedEx said.
