HOUSTON – (Realty News Report) — Ramen Tatsu-ya, an Austin-based ramen chain that’s coming soon to the Memorial area, has a third Houston location in the works near Meyerland, according to state filings.
The latest shop, planned at 4672 Beechnut just inside Loop 610, will be designed by Michael Hsu Office of Architecture, according to a filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. Michael Hsu is the acclaimed architect behind popular neighborhood destinations such as Heights Mercantile, Montrose Collective, M-K-T Heights, and the upcoming Greenside retail redevelopment in Memorial City.
Founded by chefs and hip-hop DJs Tatsu Aikawa and Takuya Matsumoto, Ramen Tatsu-ya serves “Japanese soul food” with its signature slow cooked pork bone broth, noodles and toppings. Chicken and vegan broth options are also on the menu.
Ramen Tatsu-ya’s first expanded outside of Austin in 2017 with a Montrose location at 1722 California Street. The upcoming location near Memorial in west Houston is expected to open in Town & Country Village, at 600 West Sam Houston Parkway North near Athleta, in winter 2025, according to the company.
Next, work will begin early next year to transform a 2,625-SF space on Beechnut Street near Meyerland Plaza and the city limits of Bellaire, into a Ramen Tatsu-ya, according to the TDLR. The work is expected to begin in February with completion planned in October 2026. The space was previously home to Boston Market Rotisserie Kitchen.

Founded in 2012, Ramen Tatsu-ya currently has eight locations, primarily in Austin with one each in Pflugerville and Houston.
