HOUSTON – (Realty News Report) – Joe V’s Smart Shop plans to open two new Houston stores in 2027 as the low-price grocer expands in Texas.
San Antonio-based H-E-B announced the timeline for the new Joe V’s stores, which are already under construction. H-E-B launched Joe V’s Smart Shop in 2010 to serve cost conscious shoppers looking for fresh, high-quality products at low prices. It has grown to 14 stores across the Houston and Dallas markets.
Northeast of Houston, a 57,000-SF store is planned to open at 19611 US 59 in Humble in early 2027.
On the south side of town, a 57,000-SF store is being built from the ground up at 1227 W. Orem Drive at Highway 288 near the City Park community. The store is expected to open in late 2027.
Each store will employ more than 200 people, according to H-E-B.
Joe V’s Smart Shop offers fresh produce, in-store cut meats, breads and tortillas made in store, sushi, and an Asian grill with rice bowls and more.
The two new locations will be the first Joe V’s to offer H-E-B South Flo Pizza made in store daily as a grab-and-go meal option.
Both stores will offer home delivery to surrounding neighborhoods.
H-E-B has over 100 stores in Greater Houston under the H-E-B, Joe V’s Smart Shop, Central Market, and Mi Tienda brands.
Mi Tienda, which specializes in authentic products from Mexico and Central America at low prices, could also be expanding. A 99,000-SF Mi Tienda store is proposed at 7140 Southwest Freeway in PlazAmericas, according to a filing with the Texas Department of Licensing & Regulation.
