Work Begins on 1.1 Million SF Hotel/Apartment Tower Near Medical Center

HOUSTON – Medistar Corp. has started construction on a 21-story, 353-room InterContinental Hotel and a Greystar apartment tower at 6750 Main St., across from the Texas Medical Center.

Medistar, a Houston firm led by Monzer Hourani, is developing the project in partnership with TRC Capital Partners, which was formerly known as Redstone. PCCP LLC provided $73.1 million in construction financing.

The 1.1 million SF hotel/apartment project is located on the west side of Main Street just south of Rice University. The 35-story multifamily tower will have units ranging from 349 SF to 3,767 SF.

Scheduled to open in late 2018, InterContinental Houston Medical Center will be owned by Medistar and managed by InterContinental Hotel Group.

InterContinental Houston Medical Center was designed by HOK, is being built by GHJ Construction.

Medistar selected Greystar, the largest operator of apartments in the United States, as its partner for the 35-story Latitude Med Center luxury apartment tower.

Designed by The Preston Partnership, Latitude Med Center is being built by Hoar Construction and scheduled for completion in late 2018.

The Texas Medical Center, the largest medical complex in the world with 50 million SF of buildings, on 1,345 acres, supporting 8 million patient visits annually.
