MARLBOROUGH, Mass. – (Realty News Report) – BJ’s Wholesale Club is expanding to East Texas with a new store in Tyler.
The Marlborough, Massachusetts-based wholesale club, which entered the Texas market earlier this year in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, announced plans to open a Tyler store as part of an accelerated growth strategy to open 25 to 30 new clubs every two years.
“Value is the foundation of our company. BJ’s has been delivering unbeatable savings and convenience to families for more than 40 years,” said Bill Werner, Executive Vice President, Strategy and Development, BJ’s Wholesale Club. “We’re thrilled by the enthusiasm we’ve seen from members in Texas and look forward to taking care of families in Tyler and the surrounding communities.”
Other upcoming stores are in Mesquite, Texas, Foley, Ala., Frankfort, Ky., Portage, Ind., and Ocala, Lecanto, and Port St. Lucie, Florida.
BJ’s Wholesale is the nation’s third largest membership wholesale club behind Costco and Sam’s. The company pioneered the warehouse club model in New England more than 40 years ago.
The Tyler store, spanning 106,000 square feet, is planned at 8667 S. Broadway Ave., according to a filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.
The new store is expected to create between 100 and 150 jobs in Tyler.
Founded in 1984, BJ’s Wholsale operates 267 clubs and 206 BJ’s Gas locations in 22 states. The company has Texas stores in Forney, Grand Prairie, Waxahachie, and Fort Worth, plus upcoming locations in Mesquite and Tyler.
