HOUSTON – (Realty News Report) – A new Hockley community that has earned a spot on national top-seller lists each year since its debut has opened a second amenity complex, providing another place for residents to connect with each other and nature.
The Grand Prairie, a 1,730-acre community south of Highway 290 off Warren Ranch Road, has opened The Sundancer, a 6.5-acre amenity complex with a design inspired by the surrounding prairie. Located 35 miles northwest of downtown Houston, the Grand Prairie is a development of Ember, a private real estate investment and development firm founded by Harry Masterson, Jordan Mack, and Vicente Rangel.
Set on 6.5 acres, The Sundancer campus offers an adult pool, family pool, splash pad, playground with zip line, and activity lawns. The 6,700-SF community building features indoor and outdoor spaces.

Directed by Ember and designed by Overland Partners and Studio Plearn to “appear as if it belongs to the land,” the building features slanted steel columns that mimic the lines of trees, floor to ceiling windows, and outdoor plazas. Built by Millis Development & Construction, the 2,500-SF interior includes a gathering hall, commercial kitchen, and offices for community management. Clark Condon provided landscape design services.
“For The Grand Prairie, we wanted a bold design that would serve as a beacon in the middle of this prairie without looking out of place,” said Masterson. “Our goal was to create a place that honored the land and invited people to experience it.”
Other amenities at The Grand Prairie includes multiple lakes, including 70-acre Lake Ember for kayaking, paddleboarding and fishing. The Starlight, a recently opened 3.5-acre amenity complex, features a resort-style swimming pool, two lighted, lakeside pickleball courts, and an expansive playground.
A Hub for Homebuilding
The Grand Prairie ranked No. 17 on RCLCO’s national list of top-selling master planned communities with 639 sales in 2025, its second year of sales. The community reported 436 new home sales in 2024, ranking No. 42 on the list, an impressive feat for a new development.
The community is about eight miles west of Bridgeland, the Howard Hughes Communities development in Cypress that ranked No. 11 on the list with 812 sales last year. It is close to Jubilee, a Johnson Development community focused around wellness.
Upon buildout, The Grand Prairie is planned for about 6,000 homes of which about 20% have been built and sold so far.
Located in Waller Independent School District, homes are priced from the mid-$200,000s to the $700,000. The builders are David Weekley Homes, Lennar, Perry Homes, Shea Homes, Village Builders and Westin Homes.
